Kelowna City FC Player Code of Conduct
By signing below, I agree I will
- Practice and encourage fair play with players, coaches, officials and parents at every match, training session and club event
- Understand I have a responsibility to my team as a member of a team sport to always try to the best of my abilities
- Understand I have a responsibility to be on time and to attend all team games, sessions and events to the best of my ability and will notify team officials as soon as I can if I am unable to attend
- Always do my best to listen, learn, teach and interact with my coaches, trainers, teammates and club officials.
- Understand that I’m a valued and respected member of Kelowna City FC and understand that I deserve to be treated with respect and dignity and will treat others the same way in return.
- Will respect the decisions of team staff with maturity. If I disagree with those decisions, I will approach the team or club staff directly to discuss my views in a respectful manner. I also may ask my parents to speak to team staff on my behalf.
- Respect the facilities that I attend events at, whether home or away and show due care and consideration.
- Will remember that the most important opportunity for me is the one to have fun. If my soccer experience stops being fun, I will alert my parents and team officials
- Understand I deserve to play in an alcohol, drug and tobacco-free environment and expect all participants to respect my wishes. I will also refrain from using alcohol, drug and tobacco prior to all practices or games.
- Refrain from using foul or abusive language during all team events
- Refrain from bullying, be it mental, verbal or physical and agree to immediately inform team staff and parents if they see any bullying activity take place. This also extends to social media and online behaviour
- Understand that all people have a right to be protected from abuse regardless of age, gender, culture, language, racial origin, religious belief, sexual orientation or physical and mental differences.
- Refrain from taunting fellow players
- Respect the rules of the game
- Respect the decisions of match officials during games and show self-control, restraint and respect to those same match officials
- Respect the safety and health of team-mates, opponents, coaches and parents during practice sessions, training & games
- Respect the abilities and feelings of players on opposing clubs
- Understand that while emotions run high, that sportsmanship is our guiding principle and will show sportsmanship, win, lose or draw.
- Understand that failure to abide by the above policies may result in suspension, disciplinary action or possible removal from Kelowna City FC
